RxTakeBack Program

To do our part in combatting the opioid epidemic, Shawnee Health has installed three Rx TakeBack kiosks, located in our Carbondale, Marion, and Murphysboro health centers.

These secure boxes give patients a safe and convenient way to dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired prescriptions.  These kiosks make the disposal of medications easier in order help reduce the availabilty of unused drugs, misuse of medications, and the rise in overdose deaths.

Acceptable items include Schedule II-V Controlled Substances (such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, and fentanyl) and non-controlled substances (over-the-counter medications).  Please do not desposit medical waste, chemicals, used sharps, areosols, batteries, hazardous materials, or trash in the kiosks.

The kiosks are accessible during normal clinic hours.
